How will President Trump be presented in history textbooks in the future?

George H W Bush is remembered for “Read my lips, no new taxes” and Bill Clinton for “I did not have sex with that woman”.

So I suspect Trump’s lasting legacy will be “You can grab them by the pussy”.

Not America’s finest hour, I have to say.

Turn about being fair play and all, we can grab, squeeze and twist the dangly bits of any clown who pulls that stunt.

Seriously though, I agree, I don't know what my country (and much of the rest of the 'First World') is coming to these days. We've got this damned pendulum swing going in politics where we keep swinging further to the extreme of either the left or the right and have very precious few politicians and political candidates anywhere in the balanced middle ground. :(

At least Theresa May doesn't boast about assaulting people. That's probably the only good thing I can say about her though.

It's not just the swing to the right that bugs me, it's the hatred. We're seeing a rise in xenophobia, racism, misogyny, trans- and homo-phobia...

Luckily, the actual laws in the UK are very supportive of groups that get discriminated against, for the most part. But the British public are being incited to hate immigrants because they make an easy target for blaming all our ills on - instead of on the politicians where the blame actually rests.

Our system and laws are supposed to ensure the rights of everyone too, but the system has pretty much broken down. Instead of fixing the system, far too many politicians are whipping up the emotions of people against scapegoats. It really is reminding me of what I've read about early Nazi Germany, but that comparison is highly unpopular.

It's particularly terrifying that this is going on not only here, but there in the UK and several countries in the EU as well.

I think that the Trump/Hitler analogy is actually worrying appropriate.

It's pretty bad here as far as xenophobia goes, but the government is currently undertaking a survey of GLBT+ people to find out what they need to do better. Things are bad here but they are differently bad and not as extreme.

At least, not yet.
